In my latest video, I share a new stitch that is perfect for beginners. This particular stitch took me awhile to discover, and it’s one I always seem to forget about. However, every time I use this stitch, I fall in love with it again.

The half double crochet is like a hybrid between the single crochet and double crochet. With this stitch, you get the best of both worlds! It is worked quickly like the double crochet for fast progress, but also creates a beautiful texture like the single crochet.

A nice airy stitch, the half double crochet is great for articles of clothing. In fact, I have a sweater I’m working on that predominantly uses the half double crochet stitch. The texture is amazing!
