Pssst. Hey you. Yeah, you.
You might want these templates if you watched today’s TuTu. 😉
If you didn’t watch today’s TuTu, you probably have no ideas what those are. The first one is the template for a Turkey Body and the second is the template for a Turkey Feather. Still not sure what they’re for?
A DIY Turkey in a Flower Pot, of course!
Alright, a little background. Many years ago, my grandparents bought a little turkey pumpkin kit. Essentially, it was a box that held a wooden turkey head, several feathers, and two wings, plus a hat and kerchief. Each of the wooden pieces had a dowel at the bottom that can be stabbed into a pumpkin. So, every year at Thanksgiving, us cousins go to my grandparent’s house to assemble the pumpkin turkey.
We also bake a special applesauce cake when we assemble the pumpkin turkey. In fact, later today I’m going to my grandpa’s to make the applesauce cake and assemble the pumpkin turkey! In light of this, I thought it would be fun to share this tradition with others. While today’s video uses a flower pot, you could use the same pieces and insert them in a pumpkin… that is, if you can find one this late in the year!
Since it’s hard to find the same kit my grandparents bought years ago, I knew I needed a better method to share the tradition of a turkey pumpkin. Naturally, DIY was the way to go! I had lots of fun making this project because it’s so simple but totally worth crafting.
Make sure to watch today’s video if you want to make your own DIY Turkey in a Flower Pot!
