Shell Crochet Pattern: Easy for Beginners

If you’ve kept up with my other videos, you know the basic stitches: chain, single crochet, and double crochet. At first, they might not seem like much. However, simple patterns like this one prove the basic stitches can create amazing projects.

One such pattern is this Shell Crochet Pattern. Once you learn the steps, it is quickly worked using the basic stitches. The simple trick here is to work several stitches in the same spot. That causes the stitches to fan out like a shell, hence the name. Go figure. 🙂

Watch the tutorial below to start mastering this new technique!

This pattern can be used in a variety of ways, like blankets, scarves, or shawls. Currently, I’m working on a blanket using Lion Brand’s Homespun yarn like I showed in the video.

Because I try to crochet everything under the sun all at once, I’ve been working on this blanket for a couple years. However, it’s not because it’s a hard pattern. If I put my mind to it, I could quickly finish this by the end of the week. The pattern works quickly (if you, like, actually work on the project…hehe), and since I’m using a larger hook size on the blanket I can make more progress with each row.

What will you make with this pattern? Will you use this yarn or try something else? Share in the comments below!

Happy Crafting!
