From time to time, I get strange looks from people when they learn I crochet. Often, my age baffles them. Why would someone relatively young enjoy crocheting? Obviously, something’s off…
At least, I wonder if that’s what people think when they discover I crochet. Perhaps you’ve encountered this too. Unfortunately, crochet has garnered a stigma of being boring and out-dated.
If you’re anything like me, though, you’ve learned the crochet life comes with its own set of adventures and humor. It might not always be in-your-face excitement or the basis for a dramatic story of what you did over the weekend. Nonetheless, the humor is there. You just have to look for it.
Don’t believe me? Spend a little time browsing a FaceBook crochet group, interacting on a crochet forum, or searching for crochet pins on Pinterest. Us crocheters have a world of humor unique to those who crochet.
There’s certain situations most crocheters eventually find themselves in. Some are light-hearted, others make our friends question our sanity, and some make us question our own sanity. 😉 Regardless, this is the crochet life, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Enough blabber about crochet. If you want to truly know what I’m talking about when I say crochet humor, watch the video below. I could say more about the video, but really it speaks for itself.
This video was so much fun to film. If I’m being real, here, there were several moments in the filming process in which I started crocheting a project that was supposed to be just a prop. My friends were patient with me though, and I’m so glad for their help! Couldn’t have done it without them.
Also, I made an absolute amazing mess of all my crochet supplies. On the bright side, I discovered some skeins of yarn I’d forgotten about. Now to find the time to work on all the projects the yarn made me think of…
I hope this brought a smile to your face. You’re not alone in your crochet struggles! There are lots of people who have had similar experiences. Did I leave any out you wanted to see? Post your answers to “you might crochet if…” to let me know! I just might make a second video if this one does well… 🙂
